Louise Robb Associates was engaged by the Board of Governors of an independent school to provide facilitation services at an annual strategic review, in which the governors would scrutinize, modify and approve the strategic plans for the organization and develop a short, medium and long term vision. The annual review provides the time and space for purposeful, facilitated discussion amongst Board members.
In the first instance, Louise Robb Associates took time to speak to each of the key planners to learn about the background to the work and identify any changes that had occurred since the previous facilitated session. At this stage, the scope of work was established, together with the key outputs required from the review. Next, we designed the process and selected appropriate tools and systems for the current session. The programme was then delivered, working with the whole board, and the work was completed with a follow up stage and report detailing the outcomes.
At Louise Robb Associates, we often find it is appropriate to introduce a specific model of organizational development to help a group develop a common language to describe their own growth. In this case we used the Kantor / Garret model of personal, team and organization development. Feedback from each member of the group on this approach was very positive and each member emphasized how helpful this addition to the process had been.
