Alastair is an organisational development consultant who offers leadership and governance development, critical friend assignments and occasional coaching. His clients have been mainly in Higher Education (the sector in which he previously worked) but have also included Health, Social Care and Government.
Alastair’s approach is informed by systems thinking and a dialogic approach (helping the group to make sense of its complex environment and develop appropriate solutions). He is also interested and experienced in culture change and process review. He has an MA degree, is a trained language teacher, a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, holds a certificate in Advanced Process Consultancy from the Tavistock and regularly feeds his curiosity with self-development activity. He is a Key Associate of Advance HE (formerly the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education) and has been in practice since 2006.
In his early career, Alastair worked in a private language school and two blue-chip manufacturing companies. He then spent 14 years at the University of St Andrews, where he became Vice-Principal and University Secretary at a time of very high public profile for the organisation.
